Masaki Isshiki (1927–2019) was a Nikon optical designer, software pioneer, and later professor of engineering. After joining Nippon Kogaku in 1949, he helped establish the company's computer-aided lens-design system while developing photographic optics. His work included telephoto and wide-angle objectives and the extraordinary 230-degree SAP Fisheye-Nikkor 6.2 mm f/5.6. In 1988 he became a professor at Tokyo Polytechnic University and devoted his later career to training optical engineers.
