Konica Autoreflex / Hexanon AR SLR mount, introduced in 1965 | 35 mm SLR
Konica AR was introduced with the Auto-Reflex/Autorex generation and became Konica's main 35 mm SLR mount. The early system is historically notable for shutter-priority automatic exposure on a focal-plane-shutter SLR, with later bodies adding more refined TTL metering and exposure automation.
The AR mount has a relatively short SLR register and a strong Hexanon lens family, including compact standards, wide angles, telephotos, macro lenses, and unusual high-performance designs. Earlier Konica F-mount optical formulas also influenced some early AR lenses.
In catalog terms, Konica AR is a good manual-focus SLR comparison point outside the Canon/Nikon/Pentax mainstream. The lenses often have a distinct balance of compact mechanics, strong coatings, and practical apertures rather than a large professional system identity.
