Mamiya RB67 is a modular medium-format SLR system built around a large 6x7 frame, bellows focusing, interchangeable backs, and a rotating back adapter. The RB name refers to that rotating-back concept, which lets photographers switch portrait and landscape orientation without rotating the whole camera.

RB lenses use mechanical leaf shutters and mount to a body that supplies bellows extension rather than lens helicoids for focusing. The system is heavy but extremely flexible, with backs for several formats, close-focus capability built into the body, and all-speed flash sync.

In catalog comparisons, RB67 lenses are studio workhorses. They favor robustness, macro and portrait flexibility, and large image coverage over portability, making them a different optical problem from compact 6x7 rangefinder systems such as Mamiya 7.
