Biography

Soichi Nakamura was a renowned Nikon optical designer and design leader who carried forward Takashi Higuchi's negative-positive wide-angle zoom tradition. His work in this catalog spans wide-angle, telephoto, and extreme-range zooms, while Nikon also credits him with leading the 400 mm f/3.5 IF-ED supertelephoto program and directing the company's first wide-angle autofocus zoom. In 1994 Nakamura and two colleagues received a Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation prize for internal-focusing supertelephoto lenses.
